Alex Witten-Hannah
Managing Partner
Alex qualified LL.B (Honours) from the University of Auckland and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court (now High Court) in 1970. Alex worked as a solicitor in the United Kingdom 1972-1973 (Cambridge and London) and since then in New Zealand, in partnerships until 1985 when he commenced his own practice in Takapuna in 1985; since 1990 in the iconic former Takapuna North post office.
Known as a practical and pragmatic lawyer, Alex endeavours to resolve problems often by thinking outside the square to achieve a solution where going to Court is a last resort. Having said that, courtrooms have almost been a second home for Alex over the past half-century; even arguing New Zealand’s last civil appeal to the Privy Council in 2006.
Alex is New Zealand’s longest serving Marriage Celebrant (since 1977) specialising in moving and memorable ceremonies embodying the art of Saubrage (decapitating Champagne bottles with an antique French cavalry sword). A service performed for clients and friends alike without charge.

Susan Howard
Partner
Susan commenced her working life as a clerk in the Magistrates Court (now District Court) in Auckland. After several years in the Court, she went overseas and returned to work in Auckland as a legal executive for Johnston Prichard and Fee and for Russell McVeagh. Throughout this period, she undertook part-time studies to complete her law degree. Susan joined Alex as a staff solicitor in 1992 and in partnership in 2003. Susan has a background in litigation and family law but now works primarily in the areas of property law, residential and commercial, leases, wills, trusts and estate planning and relationship property.

George Knapp
Solicitor
George studied at the University of Otago and was admitted to the Bar in 2014 in Auckland. George is a general practice lawyer and acts for a broad range of private and commercial clients. His key practice areas include property, commercial transactions, leasing, business purchase and sale, trust and asset planning and relationship property.
